What is Tallow and What Are The Benefits Of Using It?
Tallow is the rendered fat that comes from cows. Tallow from 100% grass-fed, grass-finished cows provides vitamins found in no other foods. Animal fats naturally contain fat-soluble vitamins A, D3, E, and K2 along with vitamins B1, B4, and B12; all of which are essential for good skin health. Unlike harmful ingredients and chemicals in commercialized skin creams you see on the shelves, tallow is not prone to spoil or turn rancid. On a molecular level, tallow does not oxidize or break down by releasing free radicals into your system. In fact, tallow is Latin for sebum due to the fact that tallow is nearly identical to the sebum our own skin secretes. Moreover, tallow is biologically similar to our cellular membranes in that tallow is over 50% saturated fat just like the lipids found in youthful, toned, and healthy skin. Besides fat-soluble vitamins, tallow is extremely anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and is loaded with anti-microbial properties. Grass-fed, grass-finished tallow contains conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), palmitoleic acid (omega 7), palmitic acid, alpha-linoleic (omega-3), linoleic acid (omega-6), oleic acid (omega-9), and stearic acid. All of these combined create a deeply moisturizing, hydrating, and an exceptionally healing skin cream.
Why Have I Never Heard of Tallow-Based Skincare Before?
Tallow has been used in skincare for generations before us. Believe it or not, the Romans used the oldest skin cream in the world, which included animal fat. Tallow was widely used for centuries as the main ingredient for candles, soaps, salves, and creams until the 1950s when the skincare industry prioritized profit over health. Skincare products now have synthetic and chemically-derived formulas our bodies don't recognize. In addition, most mass produced skincare products marketed as "all natural" actually contain dangerous herbicides, pesticides, and other agrochemicals that consumers may not be aware they are applying to their skin. Your skin is smart, and it knows exactly what it needs in order to heal itself. That's why Gentle Tallow Co is here for you. Our primary focus is introducing a skincare secret you were unaware of. Once you try our tallow-based skincare, you'll never look back.
